This Privacy Policy applies to the Knotz mobile application and related services provided by Nidus Logic ("we", "us", or "our"), accessible via our website at https://knotz.net.
1. Information We Collect
When you use Knotz, we may process the following types of information:
- Document & Media Data: Receipts, warranty cards, invoices, and images that you scan or upload. These records remain stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to back them up to your cloud account.
- Device & Diagnostics Data: Non-personally identifiable technical information (such as device model, OS version, and crash diagnostics) to maintain app stability and resolve issues.
- Advertising Identifiers: Advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID) processed via third-party advertising SDKs to serve contextual or personalized ads.
2. Cloud Backups & Integrations
If you connect Knotz to Google Drive or other external cloud services, the application accesses your account solely to create, update, or restore backups initiated by you. Knotz does not access, inspect, or transfer your private documents to external servers without your explicit authorization.
3. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdMob)
Knotz displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. Google AdMob and its advertising partners may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and interaction metrics to deliver relevant advertisements.
You can manage your ad personalization settings directly on your Android device by navigating to Settings > Google > Ads. For further details on how Google processes ad data, refer to the Google Ads Privacy Policy.
4. Data Ownership & Deletion
You retain full ownership of your documents and data. You can delete individual documents or clear all app data at any time directly within the Knotz app or by clearing storage in your device settings.
Request deletion of your account and cloud data. Visit https://knotz.net/delete-account.html, sign in with the Google account you use in Knotz, review the warning, and confirm. Deletion is performed on our servers and cannot be started from inside the app. If you cannot use the page, email support@knotz.net from the address linked to your account and we will assist.
What is permanently deleted: your sign-in account (including your email and sign-in provider link) and all of your records in Knotz cloud services — document metadata, preferences, tags and categories, AI feedback and usage records, and any files in Knotz cloud storage. Your remaining AI credits are forfeited and cannot be refunded or recovered. This cannot be undone.
What we retain: only an anonymized audit record containing an internal account reference, the deletion date and time, and the number of AI credits forfeited. It contains no documents, content or contact details, and is kept for compliance and audit purposes. If you sign up again you are treated as a new user.
Not deleted by us: backups stored in your own Google Drive and files on your device. Knotz keeps Drive backups in a hidden, app-private area that does not appear in your normal Drive file list. To delete them, open Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps, select Knotz, and choose Delete hidden app data. Uninstalling the app removes the files on your device.
5. Children's Privacy
Knotz is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
